Editorial policy
Where our numbers come from, how often we re-check them, and what happens when we get something wrong.
Source hierarchy
Every non-obvious figure on this site comes from one of these, in order of preference, with a link and a retrieval date on the page:
- The manufacturer’s product manual. Wattage, safety guidance, load limits, and any instruction about unattended use.
- The manufacturer’s own listing or spec sheet. Dimensions, capacity, materials, drying-line length.
- Government and standards bodies. The EIA for electricity prices, the DOE and ENERGY STAR for appliance energy use, the EPA for indoor moisture and mold.
- Named institutions and peer-reviewed research for anything about humidity, drying physics or health.
- Live retailer data for current price and availability.
Never a source: another affiliate roundup, an AI summary, a retailer’s marketing copy presented as a specification, or memory.
What we will not claim
- That we tested something. We have not handled these products and no page will say otherwise - not “we tested”, not “in our testing”, not “we have used this for months”.
- A credential we do not hold. There is no certification, no advisory panel, no licensed anyone behind this site.
- A specification a manufacturer did not publish. Where a figure is missing, the page says not published.
- A price we cannot verify. A price is either live or absent.
- A review or a rating that is not real. This site publishes no customer testimonials, because it has none, and it will not invent any.
Review cadence

Corrections
We correct errors rather than quietly editing them away. A substantive correction gets a dated note on the page saying what was wrong and what it now says. A typo gets fixed without ceremony.
The reason for the distinction is that a reader may have acted on the original figure. If a wattage, a dimension or a cost calculation was wrong, that is worth telling people about explicitly.

Dates on this site
The “last reviewed” date on each page is a real content date, not a build timestamp. This site redeploys frequently as price data refreshes, and stamping every page with the deploy date would make the dates meaningless. A date changes when the content changes.
Independence
AirDry Co earns affiliate commission and discloses it on every page that carries a link. Commission does not determine a ranking, no brand has paid for placement, and no manufacturer has sent us a product. Every roundup names something to skip.
Reader safety
On anything with a safety dimension - electrical appliances, unattended operation, indoor air quality - we report what manufacturers and regulators publish and we stop there. We are a gear site, not electricians, and pages like overnight use of a heated rack carry no product recommendations at all, deliberately.
