Leifheit drying racks in the US
The number in the model name is the drying line in decimeters. Once you know that, the whole range reads in about ten seconds.

What Leifheit actually lists in the US
Leifheit is a German housewares manufacturer, and the useful thing about its American listings is how unusual they are: the whole range is there and all of it is in stock. That is not the normal experience with a European brand in this category. The other one this site reviews has a US catalog dominated by outdoor rotary lines with the indoor racks barely present - see Brabantia drying racks in the US for what that looks like.
Ten models were visible and purchasable when we first read the listings on 2026-09-26. On 2026-10-03 the Pegasus 150 Solid Slim had gone and nine remained. Nine of the ten publish a drying line figure. Here is the whole range, sorted by the line each one states.
| Model | Item no. | Published line | Unit the listing uses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pegasus 200 Solid, Amazon Exclusive | 81685 | 20 m - 65.6 ft | meters |
| Pegasus 200 Solid Comfort | 81516 | 20 m - 65.6 ft | yards |
| Pegasus V 190 Extendable Bathtub | 81702 | Up to 19 m - 62.3 ft | yards |
| Pegasus 180 Maxx | 81650 | 18 m - 59.1 ft | yards |
| Classic 180 Solid | 81621 | 18 m - 59.1 ft | meters |
| Pegasus 160 Solid Slim | 81620 | 16 m - 52.5 ft | meters |
| Pegasus 150 Solid Slim (delisted 2026-10-03) | 81690 | 15 m - 49.2 ft | meters |
| Pegasus 120 Solid Compact | 81720 | 12 m - 39.4 ft | yards |
| Telegant 30 Protect Wall Dryer | 83306 | 3 m - 9.8 ft | inches |
| Pegasus V 110 Bathtub | 81540 | Not published | - |
Look at the fourth column. The same brand publishes the same specification in meters, in yards and in inches depending on which listing you land on, and one listing skips it entirely. That is the mess the model number cuts through.
The decode, worked
The reason this is worth a section is that the alternative is arithmetic in a store aisle. Nine listings, three different units, and a buyer who wants to know whether one rack holds more than another. The name already told you.

Every figure is the manufacturer’s own, read from its listing on 2026-09-02. Where a cell says not published, that specification is genuinely absent - we do not estimate one. How we work.
Where this range is genuinely strong
Sixty-five feet is a lot of line for one rack
The Pegasus 200 models publish 20 meters, which is 65.6 feet. To put that in the context of the racks already on this site: the best freestanding winged rack we had cataloged before this publishes 59 feet, a popular gullwing publishes 46, and the three-tier racks most people actually buy publish 24 to 27. Only one indoor rack here publishes more, a vertical tower at 75.5 feet, and that is a different shape of object entirely.
Leifheit also states what that buys in loads rather than only in feet: the 20 meter listing says two wash loads at once, and the 15 meter says one to two. Load claims are softer than linear feet - nobody defines a load - but it is more than most listings offer. The arithmetic that turns feet into garments is on how much laundry fits on a drying rack.
One model publishes a width that gets through a doorway
This is the specification nobody thinks to want until they own a rack, and the range is now down to one model that gives it. The Pegasus 120 Solid Compact publishes 17.32 inches of width. The Pegasus 150 Solid Slim published 55 centimeters and stated in as many words that it passed through a doorway open - it was delisted in the US on 2026-10-03, which is a loss for exactly this use case.
A rack you can pick up loaded and carry into the sun is a genuinely different tool from one you have to unload first, because a loaded rack cannot be folded. For a one-bedroom apartment where the sunny room is not the room with space for a rack, that width is the whole product.
One of them is built to sit on a bathtub
The Pegasus V models are designed to stand across a bathtub, and there is nothing else like them anywhere on this site. Indoor drying creates one problem that no rack solves: the water has to land somewhere. A tub is already plumbed for exactly that, and the V 190 publishes an adjustable line of up to 19 meters while it does it.
The catch is the obvious one - the bathroom is out of service while a load dries, so this suits a household with a second bathroom or nobody in a hurry. The general version of this approach, including the cheaper improvised alternatives, is on bathroom drying.
Both footprints, published in the same sentence
The Pegasus 200 Amazon Exclusive listing states 105 by 56 by 7 centimeters closed and 182 by 56 by 89 to 98 centimeters open. That is 41.3 by 22 by 2.8 inches folded, and 71.7 by 22 by 35 to 38.6 inches in use. Publishing both numbers together is rare enough in this category that this site built a whole page around the gap - see expandable drying racks, where the extended footprint is usually the one missing.
Where it falls down
Not one of the ten publishes a load rating
Ten listings, nine line lengths, zero weight limits. For wet towels and bedding the load rating is the specification that predicts whether a rack survives, and Leifheit does not state one on any US listing we read.
This is not unique to Leifheit - most of this category does the same thing - but it is a real gap in a premium range, and it is the one place where a cheaper American brand beats it outright. A popular gullwing on this site publishes 50 lb. If a published rating is what you need, the racks that give you one are on heavy-duty drying racks.
No warranty statement on any US listing
None of the ten listings carries a warranty term. For an unpowered rack that matters less than it would for a motor, and the frames are described as rustproof with chip-resistant paint, but a premium-priced range that publishes no warranty is worth noticing rather than assuming.
The same 20 meters is sold at two very different prices
This is the one thing on this page that can cost you real money. Item 81685, the Amazon Exclusive, and item 81516, the Solid Comfort, publish the same 20 meters of drying line - one states it as 20 m and the other as 21.87 yard, which is the same number. At the time of writing they are listed far apart on price.
What the dearer one adds is accessories: a laundry pin bag and a waved hanger bar on top of the hangers and small-item holders the cheaper one already includes. That may be worth it to you. It is not more drying line, and the listings do not make that obvious. Both are in the pick list below with live prices, so compare them there rather than taking our word for the gap - it moves.
The dimensions arrive in centimeters, and not always consistently
Every footprint in this range is published metric, which is a minor tax on a US buyer with a tape measure in inches. More awkwardly, the Pegasus 200 Amazon Exclusive states its own weight as 3.2 kilograms - about 7.1 pounds - while Amazon's specification block for the same item says 8.77 pounds. One of those almost certainly includes the packaging, and the listing does not say which.
Which one to buy
- Most line for the least money: Pegasus 200 Solid, Amazon Exclusive. Twenty published meters, both footprints stated, five hangers and four small-item holders in the box. This is the one to buy unless a specific constraint below applies.
- Long items that must hang clear: Pegasus 160 Solid Slim. Side wings a published 105 cm high - 41.3 inches - which is the only figure in the range that tells you how far a dress can hang. Sixteen meters of line, and no open footprint published.
- No floor to spare at all: Pegasus V 190 Extendable Bathtub. Up to 19 meters over a tub that already drains, folding to 1.8 inches when it is not in use.
- The rack must vanish between loads: Telegant 30 Protect Wall Dryer. Nine point eight feet is a supplement, not a main rack, but it folds to a flat white panel and it is the cheapest way into the range. It needs drilling.
- You want the accessories: Pegasus 200 Solid Comfort. The same 20 meters plus a pin bag and a hanger bar. Check it against the Amazon Exclusive first.
- Not: anyone who needs a published weight limit. Nothing in this range states one.
What we could not tell you
- Load capacity, on any model. Not published anywhere in the US range.
- Warranty terms. No US listing states one.
- The Pegasus V 110's drying line. The only model in the range that publishes no figure. The naming convention suggests 11 meters; Leifheit has not said so, and neither will we.
- Which published weight is right for item 81685. The bullet says 3.2 kg, the specification block says 8.77 lb.
- The bathtub width range. The V models claim to suit every tub and publish no minimum or maximum.
- How the paint lasts. Chip-resistant is a claim, not a measurement, and we have not owned these racks.
The verdict
This is the most legible range on the site, and it earned that by accident: naming each rack after its drying line means the catalog sorts itself. Behind the naming there is real substance too - 65.6 feet on a frame that folds to under three inches, a published width that clears a doorway, and a model built for a bathtub that nothing else here competes with.
The gap is the load rating, and it is not a small one at these prices. A range this carefully specified that declines to say what a shelf holds is making a choice, and for wet towels and bedding it is the wrong one. Buy Leifheit for the line length, the footprints and the width. If you need to know what it carries, buy something that tells you.

Top pick · The most published line in the range
Leifheit Pegasus 200 Solid, 20 m
20 meters of published drying line - 65.6 feet - on a winged frame that folds to under three inches thick, and the cheapest way into this range.
What the manufacturer publishes
- Open
- 71.7"L x 22"W x 35-38.6"H (182 x 56 x 89/98 cm)
- Folded
- 41.3"L x 22"W x 2.8"D (105 x 56 x 7 cm)
- Drying line
- 65.6 linear feet (20 m as published)
- Load capacity
- Not published
- Material
- Rustproof metal with chip-resistant paint
Figures from Manufacturer listing on Amazon, retrieved 2026-09-26.
Twenty meters converts to 65.6 feet. That is more drying line than any freestanding winged rack this site has cataloged - the next best publishes 59 feet - and second overall only to a vertical tower that publishes 75.5 feet in a much smaller footprint.
Leifheit publishes both footprints, open and closed, in the same bullet, which almost nothing else in this category does. Folded it is 2.8 inches thick, so it goes behind a door or down the side of a washer.
The item number is 81685 and this is the Amazon Exclusive configuration: the same 20 meter frame as the Comfort model, bundled with five windproof hangers and four small-item holders instead of the Comfort's larger accessory set, at a substantially lower price.
The listing states a weight of 3.2 kg, about 7.1 lb. Amazon's own specification block says 8.77 lb for the same item, which is the sort of disagreement that usually means one figure includes the box.
Good
- 20 m published, which is 65.6 feet
- Both footprints published, open and folded
- Folds to 2.8 inches thick
- Five windproof hangers and four small-item holders in the box
Not so good
- No published load rating anywhere on the listing
- No warranty statement on the US listing
- The two published weights disagree - 3.2 kg in the bullet, 8.77 lb in the specification block
- 22 inches wide open, so it does not pass a narrow doorway unfolded
Skip this if the rack has to live in a room you also walk through. Seventy-two inches of open length is a lot of floor, and the narrower Pegasus models exist for exactly that reason.

Pick 2 · The tallest published wings for long items
Leifheit Pegasus 160 Solid Slim, 16 m
16 published meters of line and side wings a published 105 cm high - the one figure in this range that tells you a dress will hang clear of the floor.
What the manufacturer publishes
- Open
- Not published
- Folded
- 37.2"L x 21.5"W x 2.8"D (94.5 x 54.5 x 7 cm)
- Drying line
- 52.5 linear feet (16 m as published)
- Load capacity
- Not published
- Material
- Rustproof metal with chip-resistant paint
Figures from Manufacturer listing on Amazon, retrieved 2026-10-03.
Sixteen meters converts to 52.5 feet, and the model number tells you so before you open the listing - the Pegasus naming runs in decimeters across the whole range.
The distinguishing figure here is vertical, not horizontal: Leifheit publishes side drying wings 105 cm high, which is 41.3 inches. That is the number that decides whether a dress or a pair of work trousers hangs clear of the floor instead of pooling on it, and nothing else in the range states it.
Like every Leifheit rack this site covers, it publishes no load rating. Unlike the 200, it also publishes no open footprint - only the folded 94.5 by 54.5 by 7 cm.
Good
- 52.5 feet of line (16 m published)
- Side wings a published 105 cm high for long items
- Folds to a published 2.8 inches thick
- Rustproof metal with chip-resistant paint
Not so good
- No open footprint published, only the folded dimensions
- No published load rating
- No warranty statement on the US listing
- Three bullets is the entire specification sheet
Skip this if floor space is your binding constraint. Leifheit publishes no in-use footprint for this model, so you cannot check it against the gap you have.

Pick 3 · Drying over a bathtub
Leifheit Pegasus V 190 Extendable Bathtub Dryer
A rack designed to stand across a bathtub, extendable to a published 19 meters of line, which solves the drip problem instead of managing it.
What the manufacturer publishes
- Open
- Adjustable to the width of the tub (range not published)
- Folded
- 27.6"L x 26.8"W x 1.8"D
- Drying line
- Up to 62.3 linear feet (up to 19 m as published)
- Load capacity
- Not published
- Material
- Not published
Figures from Manufacturer listing on Amazon, retrieved 2026-09-26.
This is the only rack on this site designed to sit across a bathtub, and it is the answer to the problem every other indoor rack creates: water has to go somewhere, and a tub is already plumbed for it.
Leifheit publishes up to 20.78 yards of adjustable drying length, which is 62.3 feet, or 19 meters. The extension is what makes the tub fit rather than what makes the line longer - the figure is a maximum.
The listing says it suits every bathtub width but publishes no width range, so if your tub is unusually narrow or wide there is no number to check it against. It folds to 1.8 inches thick, the flattest rack in the range.
For anyone in a rental with one bathroom and no other drying space, drying over the tub is the whole strategy, and this is the purpose-built version of it.
Good
- Purpose-built to span a bathtub
- Up to 62.3 feet of line (19 m published)
- Folds to 1.8 inches, the flattest in the range
- Drips into a tub that already drains
Not so good
- No published width range, despite claiming to suit every tub
- No published load rating
- No published material
- It occupies the bathtub, so the bathroom is out of use while a load dries
Skip this if the bathroom is the only one in the house and somebody showers in the morning. A rack in the tub and a shower are mutually exclusive.

Pick 4 · A wall rack that disappears
Leifheit Telegant 30 Protect Wall Dryer
Five aluminum bars totaling a published 118 inches of line, folding flat to a white wall panel - the cheapest entry point into the range.
What the manufacturer publishes
- Open
- 28.35"W x 14.57"D projection
- Folded
- Folds flat to the wall (closed depth not published)
- Drying line
- 9.8 linear feet (118.11 in across five 23.62 in bars)
- Load capacity
- Not published
- Material
- Aluminum bars, plastic and corrosion-resistant metal frame
Figures from Manufacturer listing on Amazon, retrieved 2026-09-26.
Leifheit publishes the arithmetic here rather than a single number: five bars, each 23.62 inches, totaling 118.11 inches. That is 9.8 feet, so this is a supplement to a rack rather than a replacement for one.
What it buys instead is a rack that is not in the room when it is not in use. It folds to a flat white panel, and the listing rates the build as corrosion resistant for bathrooms and balconies.
At 2.09 lb it is the lightest thing in the range, which also means the fasteners and the wall matter more than the rack does. The fastener and wall guidance matters more here than the rack does.
Note the naming: Telegant 30 publishes 3 meters of line. The number in a Leifheit model name is the drying line in decimeters throughout the range.
Good
- Publishes the bar count and the bar length, not just a total
- Folds flat to a wall panel
- Rated corrosion resistant for bathrooms and balconies
- The lightest and cheapest model in the range
Not so good
- 9.8 feet of line - a fraction of any Pegasus
- No published load rating
- Closed depth not published
- Needs drilling, so it is not a renter-safe option
Skip this if you rent and cannot drill. Every other model in this range is freestanding and needs no fasteners at all.

Pick 5 · The full accessory set
Leifheit Pegasus 200 Solid Comfort, 20 m
The same published 20 meters as the Amazon Exclusive model, with a larger accessory set and a substantially higher price - check both before you buy either.
What the manufacturer publishes
- Open
- Not published on this listing
- Folded
- 37.4"L x 26.2"W x 2.4"D
- Drying line
- 65.6 linear feet (21.87 yd as published)
- Load capacity
- Not published
- Material
- Rustproof metal with chip-resistant paint
Figures from Manufacturer listing on Amazon, retrieved 2026-09-26.
Leifheit publishes 21.87 yards here, which is 65.6 feet, which is 20 meters - the identical line length to the Amazon Exclusive 81685. The frames are the same size class and the published line is the same number expressed in a different unit.
What the Comfort adds is accessories: two small-item hangers, five windproof coat hangers, a laundry pin bag and a waved clothes hanger bar. Whether that is worth the difference is a question only the live prices on this page can answer, and they move.
It is listed as item 81516. If the two prices are close when you look, take this one. If they are far apart, the 81685 gives you the same 20 meters.
Unlike the Amazon Exclusive listing, this one does not publish its open footprint at all - only the folded dimensions appear.
Good
- 65.6 feet of line (20 m published)
- The largest accessory set in the range, including a pin bag
- Wings for long items
- Folds to 2.4 inches thick
Not so good
- The same published line length as a much cheaper sibling
- Open footprint not published on this listing
- No published load rating
- No warranty statement on the US listing
Skip this if you do not need the accessories. The Amazon Exclusive 81685 publishes the same 20 meters for less.

One brand handles the unit problem better than Leifheit does: Joseph Joseph prints the metric figure and the imperial figure in the same bullet on every rack it lists. What it withholds instead is the open footprint, which is taken apart on Joseph Joseph drying racks in the US.
Common questions
What does the number in a Leifheit model name mean?
It is the drying line in decimeters. Pegasus 200 publishes 20 meters of line, Pegasus 150 publishes 15, Pegasus 120 publishes 12, and the Telegant 30 wall dryer publishes 3. We checked it against ten US listings and it held on all nine that state a figure.
How much drying line does a Leifheit Pegasus 200 have?
A published 20 meters, which is 65.6 feet. Two separate US listings state it - one as "20 m" and one as "21.87 yard" - and those are the same number. The listing also claims two washing machine loads at once.
Which Leifheit rack is best for a small apartment?
The Pegasus 120 Solid Compact, because at a published 17.32 inches it is the narrowest model in the range. The Pegasus 150 Solid Slim used to be the answer - it published 55 centimeters and stated it passed through a doorway open - but it was delisted in the US on 2026-10-03.
Do Leifheit drying racks have a weight limit?
Not a published one. None of the ten US listings we read states a load rating, which is the specification that matters most for wet towels and bedding. If a published limit is what you need, some American brands do state one - a popular gullwing on this site publishes 50 lb.
Is the Pegasus 200 Comfort worth more than the Amazon Exclusive?
They publish the same 20 meters of drying line. The Comfort adds a laundry pin bag and a waved hanger bar on top of the hangers and small-item holders the Amazon Exclusive already includes. If the prices are close, take the Comfort; if they are far apart, you are paying for accessories rather than drying space.
Are Leifheit drying racks made in Europe?
Not on any listing still available. The one model that stated it - the Pegasus 150 Solid Slim Black Edition - was delisted in the US on 2026-10-03, and none of the models still on sale states a country of manufacture at all.
