SONGMICS is one of the brands you cannot avoid if you shop for a drying rack online. It has no stores, no catalog and no presence outside marketplaces - it sells a wide range of racks under model codes rather than names, and it turns those models over quickly. That makes the useful question not whether the brand is good but which of its racks is the right one, and what its listings are and are not telling you.

What the brand publishes, and what it does not

We read six SONGMICS drying rack listings in full. The pattern is consistent and it is unusual in this category: SONGMICS is better than average at publishing a folded size and worse than average at publishing a drying-line length.

Three of the six publish a real folded dimension. Across the racks on the rest of this site, roughly one in four does - so on the specification that actually decides whether a renter can live with a rack, SONGMICS is about twice as forthcoming as the category. That is a genuine point in its favor and it is why three of these racks are recommended below.

Two of the six publish a drying-line figure, and both of those are the outliers in the range: the gullwing and the outdoor umbrella. The four-tier rolling towers - the brand's flagship line, sold entirely on how much they hold - publish no linear-foot figure at all. We print "not published" for them rather than estimating, because a capacity you cannot check is the number most likely to disappoint you on laundry day. The way to work out what you actually need is on how much laundry fits on a drying rack.

Two of these ASINs are the same rack

ULLR701G01 in Dove Gray and ULLR701B01 in black are listed separately, and they publish identical dimensions, identical 77 lb capacity, identical 9.7 lb weight and identical feature lists. They are one rack in two colors. If a comparison table anywhere shows you both as separate options, it is padding the list rather than telling you something.

The same is nearly true of the ULLR701 and the ULLR704 BUNJI. The BUNJI adds an extendable width - 51.6 to 78.7 inches against a fixed 50.4 - and two extra casters, for a meaningfully higher price. Everything else, including the 77 lb rating and the tier layout, is the same.

Where the listings contradict themselves

This is the part worth knowing before you order. Every one of the six listings we read carries at least one internal contradiction or data-entry error:

  • ULLR540W01 gullwing - a specification field literally labeled "Unfoldedt Size (Folded Size)" gives 26 x 78.7 x 51.2 in, which matches neither the item dimensions of 19.7 x 71.7 x 40.4 in nor the folded size of 2.2 x 19.7 x 48.8 in given in the bullets.
  • ULLR52BU - three mutually incompatible sizes across one page, and a material field reading "Acero, PlÁstico", which is Spanish left in a US listing.
  • ULLR701 - the title says 66.6 inches tall, the specification table says 68.1 inches, and the material field says "Plastic" for a rack the bullets describe as heavy-duty stainless steel.
  • ULLR704 BUNJI - the bullets say heavy-duty stainless steel; the material field says carbon steel and plastic. Those are different metals with different rust behavior, which matters in a bathroom.
  • ULLR510W01 - the title says 61.6 inches, the specification table says 59 inches.
  • ULLR306EZ01 umbrella - the color field contains the product's dimensions instead of a color.

Every figure is the manufacturer’s own, read from its listing on 2026-09-02. Where a cell says not published, that specification is genuinely absent - we do not estimate one. How we work.

Which one to buy

  1. You want one rack for a normal apartment load - the ULLR540W01 gullwing. It is the only rack in the range that publishes both a drying line and a folded depth, and 59 feet is a full washer load.
  2. You want capacity and you have floor - the ULLR701 four-tier. 77 lb is the highest rating in the range and the casters make it movable; see rolling drying racks for how it compares with wheeled racks from other brands.
  3. Your laundry is mostly small items - the ULLR52BU, for the 27 clips built into the frame.
  4. You have almost no floor - the ULLR510W01 tower. Four and a half square feet in use, and it folds to a pole.
  5. You have a yard - the ULLR306EZ01 umbrella line, covered on outdoor drying racks rather than here, because it is not an indoor rack.

Six feet wide with both wings out. It is the widest rack here and it buys you 59 feet of line, 13 more than the Honey-Can-Do gullwing.

The load rating does not scale with the line, though: 33 lb against the Honey-Can-Do's 50. More line, less weight per foot - fine for shirts, tighter for towels.

The 20 windproof hooks are the detail that makes it worth using on a balcony, where an unhooked garment ends up on someone else's railing.

Good

  • 59 linear feet, the most published here
  • 20 windproof hooks included
  • Only 5.7 lb despite the span
  • Rust-resistant coating rated for outdoor use

Not so good

  • 33 lb capacity is modest for a rack this size
  • Nearly 6 feet wide fully open

Skip this if you dry heavy items. Spreading 33 lb across 59 feet works; putting six wet bath towels on it does not.

SONGMICS ULLR701 4-Tier Rolling Clothes Drying Rack

Pick 2 · The most rack for the money

This is the same rack as the more expensive BUNJI, minus the extendable width and two of the casters. Three top tiers, two rotating wings with 14 hanger slots, a bottom tier for shoes, and 77 lb of rated capacity - which is the most any four-tier rack on this site publishes.

Four casters with brakes on two. That is the standard arrangement and it holds a loaded rack still on a level floor; it is not enough on a floor that slopes.

SONGMICS sells this rack under two ASINs - ULLR701G01 in Dove Gray and ULLR701B01 in black - with identical published dimensions, capacity and weight. They are one product in two colors, so there is nothing to compare between them.

Good

  • 77 lb rated capacity from a 9.7 lb rack
  • Four casters, two of them braked
  • Three tiers plus two rotating wings with 14 hanger slots, plus a bottom shoe tier
  • SONGMICS quotes a 10-minute assembly with numbered parts

Not so good

  • No published folded depth, so you cannot plan where it will be stored
  • No published linear-foot figure on a rack sold entirely on capacity
  • The title says 66.6 inches tall; the specification table says 68.1 inches
  • The bullets say heavy-duty stainless steel; the material field says only Plastic

Skip this if you need the rack to disappear between loads. SONGMICS publishes a folded size for four of its racks and pointedly not for this one.

SONGMICS ULLR52 Space-Saving Drying Rack, 24 Rods

Pick 3 · Socks, underwear and everything that falls through

SONGMICS ULLR52 Space-Saving Drying Rack, 24 Rods

The 27 integrated clips are the reason to choose this one. Socks, underwear and baby clothes are what actually fall off a drying rack, and clips that are part of the frame cannot be lost the way loose pegs are.

Both top wings adjust to three heights above the floor - 39.4, 44.1 and 49.2 inches - so a long dress and a hand towel can hang on the same rack without either touching the ground.

The 55 lb rating sits between the gullwing's 33 lb and the rolling towers' 77 lb, which is a sensible place for a rack of this size. What SONGMICS does not publish, here or anywhere in the range's mid-section, is how many linear feet those 24 rods actually add up to.

Good

  • 27 clips built into the frame - nothing to lose
  • Both wings adjust to three heights, so long and short items share the rack
  • 55 lb rated capacity from a 6 lb frame
  • No screws in the assembly

Not so good

  • The listing publishes three mutually incompatible sizes: an open size of 21.7 x 58.3 x 39.4 in, a product size of 26 x 78.7 x 51.2 in, and two different folded figures
  • No published linear-foot figure for the 24 rods
  • The material field reads "Acero, PlÁstico" - Spanish left in a US listing, which is the kind of detail that predicts how carefully the rest was checked

Skip this if you dry mostly towels and bedding. Twenty-four short rods and a clip strip are built for small items, and a wide two-wing rack holds long ones better.

SONGMICS ULLR510 3-Arm Rotating Drying Tower

Pick 4 · The smallest floor footprint here

SONGMICS ULLR510 3-Arm Rotating Drying Tower

Four and a half square feet of floor, and it folds to a pole 2.2 inches square. Nothing else in the SONGMICS range stores in that little space, and very little on this site does either.

The three arms rotate a full turn, so you load and unload from one spot rather than walking around the rack. In a room where the rack is wedged into a corner, that is worth more than it sounds.

It holds hangers rather than draped items - the arms have holes to stop hangers sliding together - and SONGMICS rates it for 27 pieces and 33 lb static load. At 2.4 lb the rack itself weighs less than the laundry on it by a wide margin, which is the trade-off you are accepting.

Good

  • Folds to a 2.2 inch square pole
  • 2.4 lb, the lightest rack in the range
  • Arms rotate 360 degrees, so you load from one position
  • Stainless steel pole and legs, and four legs rather than three

Not so good

  • 33 lb rating, the joint-lowest in the range
  • Built for hangers, so draped towels and flat-dry knitwear do not suit it
  • The title says 61.6 inches; the specification table says 59 inches
  • Ships as seven parts that assemble each time unless you leave it standing

Skip this if you do not own enough hangers. This is a hanger rack with a spin, and without hangers most of its capacity is unreachable.

What we could not tell you

  • How any of these hold up over years. We have not owned them. SONGMICS turns its range over quickly, which also means long-term owner reports tend to describe a model that is no longer sold.
  • Drying-line length for four of the six. Not published, so not printed here.
  • Which metal the rolling towers are actually made of. The listings claim both stainless and carbon steel, and we have no way to settle it from published data.
  • Whether the outdoor umbrella line is currently buyable new. When we checked on 2026-09-09 its only offer was a single open-box unit from Amazon Resale with no add-to-cart button. That may well have changed by the time you read this - it is the kind of listing that flips back within days - but it is why the umbrella is not one of the picks above.

For how these compare against the rest of the market rather than against each other, the full ranking is on the best clothes drying racks, and the closest single competitor to the SONGMICS gullwing is reviewed on the Honey-Can-Do gullwing.

Common questions

Are SONGMICS drying racks any good?

The hardware is competitive and the ratings are generous for the weight - 77 lb from a 9.7 lb rack is a strong ratio. The weak point is documentation rather than construction: every one of the six listings we read contradicts itself on a size, a height or a material.

Which SONGMICS drying rack holds the most?

The four-tier rolling racks, the ULLR701 and the ULLR704 BUNJI, both rated 77 lb. Neither publishes a linear-foot figure, so the rated weight is the only capacity number you can check.

Do SONGMICS drying racks fold flat?

Three of the six publish a folded dimension: the gullwing folds to 2.2 inches deep, the three-arm tower to a 2.2 inch square pole, and the 24-rod rack to somewhere between 2.8 and 5 inches depending on which figure on its listing you believe. The two rolling towers publish no folded size at all.

Why does SONGMICS sell the same rack under two ASINs?

Color. ULLR701G01 and ULLR701B01 publish identical dimensions, capacity, weight and features - one is Dove Gray, the other black. Treat them as a single product with a color choice, not as two options to compare.

Is a SONGMICS rack better than a Honey-Can-Do one?

They target different loads. The SONGMICS gullwing publishes 59 linear feet at 33 lb; the Honey-Can-Do gullwing publishes 46 feet at 50 lb. More line and less weight against less line and more weight - pick by whether you dry bulk cotton or bulky wet towels.
